The past two weeks at Awake featured two guest speakers. First up was one of our small group leaders, Todd Zimmerman. Todd speaks at Awake every few months and has become known for his crazy stories and candy throwing, but Todd brings way more than that each time he speaks at Awake.
This time around Todd tackeled the idea of finding the Resurrection in the Old Testament. Todd looked at passages like the story of the snake in the garden in Genesis and the Passover in Exodus. God forshadowed Jesus dying and rising again from the first two books of the Bible! It was a really cool morning.
Last week we had another guest at Awake, Community Works Pastor, Derek Lynas. Derek's no rookie, he used to be the Junior High Pastor here at White River and most of our students had him when they were in middle school. Derek talked about what he knows best, sharing the resurrection. He talked about how we share our faith. He talked about overcoming our fear, being ready, meeting people where they are and shared what is commonly known as The Roman Road. The Roman Road is a great collection of passages to share the Gospel with people.
I'm so thankful for people like Todd and Derek for jumping in and sharing their hearts at Awake with our students. They are awesome men and great examples for students. Thanks guys!
